U.S. natural gas billing

A customizable USA natural gas bill, calculated in the browser

Build a complete, customizable natural gas statement the way U.S. utilities present it: gas usage in therms, CCF or MCF, previous and current meter readings with multiplier and correction factor, a configurable therm conversion factor, gas supply and delivery charges, monthly customer charges, demand charges for commercial accounts, taxes, fees, credits, previous balances, payments, usage history and live charts — all rendered as an A4 portrait document you can download as a PDF or print.

Every calculation runs in your browser from a single engine, so the numbers in the form, the live preview, the charts, the PDF and the printed page always agree. Drafts can be saved locally — no account, no upload.

How to Create a Gas Bill

1Enter the gas utility provider information

Enter the gas utility provider information — name, address, service and emergency phone numbers, website and optional logo.

2Add customer information

Add customer information: name, optional business name, customer type, billing address, phone and email.

3Enter the U.S

Enter the U.S. service address, or mark it as the same as the billing address.

4Add account and meter details

Add account and meter details: account number, customer number, meter number, premise and service IDs, rate class, meter type and size.

5Set the billing period

Set the billing period — bill number, billing date, period start and end, and the payment due date. Billing days are calculated automatically.

6Add meter readings

Add meter readings: previous and current reading, meter multiplier, correction factor, reading unit and reading type. Enable rollover only if the meter reset.

7Configure gas usage

Configure gas usage: choose therms, CCF, MCF or cubic feet, set the therm conversion factor, or enter consumption directly.

8Add gas supply and delivery/distribution charges

Add gas supply and delivery/distribution charges — per-therm, per-CCF, flat, tiered or manual.

9Add the monthly customer charge (optionally prorated)

Add the monthly customer charge (optionally prorated), demand charges for commercial accounts, and any additional fees.

10Add taxes with their own rates and taxable bases

Add taxes with their own rates and taxable bases, plus credits and adjustments that reduce the bill.

11Enter previous balance

Enter previous balance, previous payments and any payment received on this bill.

12Select an A4 template and adjust branding colours

Select an A4 template and adjust branding colours, charts and footer text.

13Review the live A4 preview

Review the live A4 preview, then download the PDF or print the bill.

Therms, CCF and MCF

A therm is 100,000 BTU of heat energy; a CCF is 100 cubic feet of volume; an MCF is 1,000 cubic feet. U.S. meters record volume, utilities bill energy, and the bridge between them is a heat-content conversion factor that varies by pipeline and season. This generator never hard-codes that factor — you set it, and therms, CCF, MCF and cubic feet are all recalculated together.

Supply versus delivery

Most deregulated U.S. gas bills separate the commodity cost of the gas (supply) from the cost of moving it through pipes, meters and service lines (delivery or distribution), plus a fixed monthly customer charge. Commercial and industrial rate classes often add a demand charge based on peak daily or hourly use. Each element is calculated independently here and itemised on the statement.

A4 portrait output

All six templates are laid out for A4 portrait at 210 × 297 mm with 8–11 mm safe margins. The live preview is the same document that is printed and exported, so pagination, charts, tables, the logo and the footer land in exactly the same place. Longer statements continue onto additional A4 pages with a page-number strip.

Frequently asked questions

What is a gas bill generator?

A gas bill generator is a browser-based tool that composes a natural gas utility statement from structured inputs — provider details, customer and service address, account and meter information, billing period, meter readings, gas supply and delivery charges, taxes, credits, payments and usage history — and exports the result as an A4 portrait PDF or a printed page. Everything is calculated in the browser; nothing leaves your device unless you choose to save or share the bill.

Can I create a USA natural gas bill?

Yes. The generator is built specifically around U.S. natural gas billing conventions: therms, CCF and MCF units, separated gas supply (commodity) and delivery (distribution) charges, monthly customer charges, MM/DD/YYYY dates, all 50 states plus Washington D.C., U.S. ZIP codes and USD currency formatting.

What unit is used for gas usage?

Therms are the default billing unit because that is how most U.S. residential gas bills are presented. CCF (100 cubic feet), MCF (1,000 cubic feet) and cubic feet are also supported for both meter readings and the displayed usage unit, and every chart, table and total follows the unit you select.

Can I enter gas meter readings?

Yes. Enter the previous and current meter readings together with a meter multiplier and a temperature/pressure correction factor. Raw usage equals current minus previous; adjusted usage applies the multiplier and correction factor; the result is then converted into your chosen billing unit. If the meter rolled over, enable the rollover option and set the meter maximum.

Can I calculate therm usage from CCF?

Yes, using a fully configurable therm conversion factor. Because the heat content of delivered gas varies by pipeline, utility and season, there is no single universal CCF-to-therm ratio — you set the factor (the sample data uses 1.02 for demonstration) and billable therms are recalculated instantly.

Can I add delivery charges?

Yes. Delivery or distribution charges can be a flat amount, a per-therm rate, a per-CCF or per-MCF rate, an unlimited tiered schedule, or a manual amount. Delivery is always shown separately from gas supply on the bill and in the cost breakdown chart.

Can I add gas supply charges?

Yes. The gas supply (commodity) section supports flat per-therm rates, per-CCF and per-MCF rates, tiered schedules with editable and reorderable bands, or a manual amount. Each tier shows the units billed inside the band and the resulting charge.

Can I add taxes and fees?

Yes. Taxes are entirely optional and configurable — none, one, or many — each with a name, a percentage rate and a taxable base such as supply plus delivery, current charges, or a custom amount. Additional fees (infrastructure, environmental, energy efficiency, meter, service, administrative, late, connection or reconnection) are added as line items with quantity and unit price.

Can I add previous balances and payments?

Yes. Previous balance, previous payments, previous credits and adjustments roll forward into the statement. Previous balance due equals previous balance minus previous payments minus previous credits plus adjustments, and any payment recorded on this bill reduces the remaining balance due.

Can I add historical gas usage?

Yes — up to 24 months. Each row stores the month, billing period, usage, unit and cost. That data drives the monthly usage chart, the optional usage-versus-cost chart and the accessible text summary printed beneath each chart.

Can I download the gas bill as PDF?

Yes. The Download PDF button exports exactly what the live preview shows — logo, header, tables, charts, amount due panel, payment stub and footer — with automatic page continuation and a page-number strip on every page. The file name follows Gas-Bill-[AccountNumber]-[BillingPeriod].pdf.

Is the gas bill PDF A4 size?

Yes. Every template is designed for A4 portrait (210 × 297 mm) and the exported PDF is created with true A4 page dimensions, so it prints without scaling or clipping.

Can I print the gas bill?

Yes. The print stylesheet hides every generator control and prints only the A4 document. Set your browser's paper size to A4 and margins to “none” for a pixel-faithful copy.

Can I customize the utility provider information?

Yes. Provider name, tagline, department, address, city, state, ZIP, customer service and emergency phone numbers, email, website, service territory, licence reference and logo are all editable, together with primary and secondary accent colours and footer text. If no logo is uploaded, a clean gas-flame mark is used instead.

Is this an official utility bill?

No. Generated documents are customizable documents intended for legitimate documentation, administrative, educational, testing, record-keeping and design purposes. They are not official statements issued by a real gas utility, and they must not be used to misrepresent a real provider, customer account, payment status, financial obligation or service record.
